Drop Indentation Tester
Test references NIJ, VPAM, HOSDB
Drop range 1.5 – 2.0 m
Sphere set 5 × steel sphere, Ø 63.5 mm, 1039 g ±5 g

Description

The Drop Indentation Tester is used to check plastic backing materials reproducibly before ballistic protection tests. It supports NIJ, VPAM and HOSDB-oriented procedures and works with an adjustable drop range between 1.5 and 2.0 m.

The steel sphere is held in the upper position and released in a controlled way. A guarded frame, access-door contact and lockable castors make the setup suitable for laboratories where test stations are frequently arranged or repositioned.

Test Setup

  • Ø 63.5 mm steel sphere with 1039 g ±5 g mass
  • Height setting from 1.5 to 2.0 m
  • Material holders for HOSDB, NIJ and VPAM setups
  • Use with the plastilina materials specified by the applicable test procedure
  • Documentable sphere position before release

Applications

  • Preparation of backing materials for ballistic protection tests
  • Repeat checks of material condition and indentation behavior
  • Setup of standards-oriented laboratory procedures according to NIJ, VPAM and HOSDB
  • Mobile use within test laboratories
  • Adjustable drop range from 1.5 to 2.0 m
  • Repeatable sphere release via magnet and trigger unit
  • Set of five steel spheres, Ø 63.5 mm, 1039 g ±5 g
  • Protected frame construction with viewing panels
  • Safety contact at the access door
  • Movable setup with four lockable castors
